Me With the Cat I Didn't Want

About the cat

This is Lucy.

She is our American Shorthair cat.

Her birthday is on August 11th.

We got her on November 17th, 2024 from the Humane Rescue Alliance in DC.

Our story

Initially, I didn't expect to have the kind of attachment I do now. I have always been a dog person. I have raised a Shih Tzu back home whom I miss very dearly, but I was very surprised by the impact Lucy has had on my life.

I started out by acknowledging how cute and curious she was. I also remember thinking why she was so aloof, but once she was comfortable with me, her head butts and requests for pets (especially when I am busy) became common.

I get up every day at 7 AM to feed her, and it's my morning ritual. In some ways, she has really changed a lot of things in my life.
